Your Dreams Are Within Reach

All too often, people will choose not to follow their dreams. Society, friends, even family members will sometimes support this decision, but that doesn’t mean that it is the right one. In my last post, I talked a bit about why it’s important to follow your heart and chase your dreams. Today I thought it would be worthwhile to take a closer look at some of the reasons why many people give up, sometimes before they even truly begin.

Why People Don’t Pursue Their Dreams

There are a number of reasons why people turn away from the dreams on their hearts. But over the years, there are three that seem to be the most prevalent: People believe that their goals and dreams are impossible, unachievable; there is a mostly false belief that the pursuit of big dreams means spending big money; then there is the all-too-common assumption that “I just don’t have what it takes.”

“This Is Impossible”

One of the most common reasons why people don’t chase down their dreams is that they believe they are impossible. This is especially true for those whose dreams are intertwined with creative endeavors like music, acting, art, and writing. We watch our favorite artists and they make it seem effortless at times, but most of the time we see their fame and their talent and we think that they must have descended from the top of some great musical Olympus, becoming gods amongst mortals. But the truth is that our favorite artists and performers started out the same way as everyone else. They are people, just like you and me. What separates them from those just starting out is years of hard work and dedication. And, usually a stubborn streak and an unwillingness to ever give up.

“This Is Expensive”

Somewhere along the way, the idea that you need to have money to chase your dreams caught on and never let go. Part of the reason why is that many recording studios do charge exorbitant fees for their services. There are ways to record your music on your own, but if the quality isn’t what you want/need it to be, you might not benefit as much as you would from having a professional on your side. That’s part of the reason why I set out with the Nashville Music Factory. Money should never be the reason why you don’t pursue your music. Our music production studio gives you access to quality services that won’t break the bank, and our online presence means we can reach you wherever you are.

“I Don’t Have What It Takes”

Self-doubt: The natural enemy of creative spirits across time and space. This is the culprit that most often limits even the most talented individuals from becoming who they are meant to be. That little voice in the back of our heads that whispers to us that we aren’t good enough, that makes us think we could never begin to compete with so many other talented people, it affects us all. But the thing is, if you have a calling on your heart and your life, you won’t ever be satisfied until you overcome your fears and try. Give yourself permission to believe in yourself, you never know what the universe has in store for you.

When we look back on our lives, we will regret the chances we didn’t take more than the mistakes we make along our road. Don’t let your life go by without giving yourself the chance to become who you were meant to be. After all, your dreams are unique to you and there is a reason why you have the passions you do. Give yourself the chance to grow. And if you are looking for a helping hand along the way, Nashville Music Factory is the perfect place to start.
